About Commons Payment - Keeping More Money in Local Circulation

We've created a new payment system called Commons Payment, which gives you several alternatives to credit card payments when booking through our website.

Currently, you can choose from the stablecoin JPYC, the community currency eumo (ë), or bank transfer.

1. Small Fees Add Up—and Can Become a Resource for the Island.

Credit cards are smooth and convenient. But every payment comes with a processing fee. With Årc's booking system, that fee is 3.6%. For example, on a ¥30,000 stay, around ¥1,080 goes to card companies—including issuing banks and card networks—and payment service providers. In other words, that money flows out of the island, and in some cases overseas. Each transaction may seem small. But over the course of a year, it adds up. And if that money could instead be used for the local commons, it becomes a meaningful resource.

At the same time, advances in technology are making alternative payment methods increasingly accessible, reducing the relative advantage of conventional payment methods.

Commons Payment grew out of this context: a way to reduce the amount of money flowing out of the local economy and circulate more of it through Årc and the community.

※ With eumo, a transaction fee applies, but you can also add a gift on top of the payment amount.

2. A Cup of Coffee, as Part of the Gift Circulation.

As a small gesture of thanks to those who choose Commons Payment, we'll make you a cup of Årc's specialty coffee. One cup per adult, per stay.

3. Choose the Method That Works Best for You.

JPYC	A stablecoin pegged to the Japanese yen at 1 JPYC = ¥1. Currently, we support JPYC on the Polygon network only. When using HashPort Wallet, there are no gas fees.
eumo (ё)	A community currency built around empathy and connection. Through an experience of gift circulation that goes beyond simple exchange of equivalent value, eumo aims to help create a society built on empathy as a form of capital.
Bank Transfer	You can make a transfer from a Japanese bank account using online banking. If your bank charges a transfer fee, you will be responsible for that fee.

4. If You're New to JPYC

JPYC is a type of digital currency known as a stablecoin, whose value is linked to the Japanese yen at 1 JPYC = ¥1.

Below are some useful resources for getting started with JPYC.

Issue JPYC and Receive It in HashPort Wallet

1. Download HashPort Wallet and create an account.

2. Create an account with JPYC EX.

3. Connect your HashPort Wallet to JPYC EX.

4. Transfer Japanese yen and receive JPYC.

Paying with JPYC through Commons Payment（Using HashPort Wallet）

When Booking on a Smartphone

1. Select JPYC in Commons Payment.

2. Tap “Open HashPort Wallet” to open the app and send the payment.

3. Find the Transaction Hash in your wallet:

   1. Open Transaction History in your wallet.

   2. Open View Details for the relevant JPYC transaction.

   3. Copy the Transaction Hash beginning with “0x...”.

4. Return to Commons Payment, paste the Transaction Hash, and submit it.

When Booking on a Computer

1. Select JPYC in Commons Payment.

2. Scan the QR code with your smartphone, open HashPort Wallet, and send the payment.

3. Find the Transaction Hash in your wallet:

   • Open Transaction History in your wallet.

   • Open View Details for the relevant JPYC transaction.

   • Copy the Transaction Hash beginning with “0x...”.

4. Return to Commons Payment, paste the Transaction Hash, and submit it.
