Purpose of sharing
This car share exists for the following purposes:

To encourage Co-Residents to ride together and create opportunities for connection.

To serve as an alternative when rental car shops are fully booked.

To help those who cannot drive themselves by allowing them to join ride-shares.

For people who don’t want to keep a rental car for their entire stay but sometimes need one.

To provide a backup when you planned to use an e-Bike but it’s raining.
-
Because if you’re going to the same place, sharing the ride is kinder to the planet.
How We Share
Sharing guidelines
To ensure everyone enjoys a comfortable experience, please follow these shared-use principles:

Drivers publish their destination and welcome ride-share requests.

Ride-share companions share costs (calculated via standard rules).
-
In case of an incident, damages are divided equally by all occupants.

Groups of four or more may only request a booking for the day before or the same day—if you prefer private or large-group use, please use a rental car service.

Return the car in a condition that’s pleasant for the next user (self-cleaning is appreciated).
Not the Best Match
Cases where this car is not suitable
Our community car is built for sharing. It may not be the best fit if you:

Want to use the car exclusively throughout your stay.

Need a private vehicle only for your group.

Wish to pick up or drop off at the airport or port (car must be returned to Årc).

Value convenience or low cost over shared responsibility.

Expect premium “full-service” quality and attention.
-
Don’t feel confident driving (since only one car is available, repairs will affect others).
Choose Your Plan
How to share and fees
Choose from one of three rental plans:
① Time-Slot Plan
Perfect for morning, afternoon, or evening adventures. Pickup and return within designated time blocks. (Unavailable slots are reserved for maintenance or handover.)

Only for early-morning use, it may be possible to return the car at the parking lot of Onoaida Sports Park in front of Samana Hotel Yakushima (the meeting point for the Jomon Cedar tours). This is only allowed if we are able to pick up the car depending on the next reservation slot or our own schedule.

Cancellation Policy
Late cancellations or no-shows (1 hour late without notice) count as a cancellation. Fees are:

Road assistance: Up to ¥150,000

Fuel: ¥10 per km (to be settled upon return)

Off-line compensation: If the car is unusable due to repairs/cleanup—within 7 days: ¥50,000; beyond 8 days: ¥150,000

Any excess damages beyond insurance coverage: shared among occupants

Late returns or excessive mess that affects the next user: apologize in person
